All Hallow's Eve Home Decor

Hello, Charlotte here and I love the fall and I really like Halloween. You will see me using colors like red, brown, orange, black and purple throughout the month of October! I found this witch hat at a local scrapbook store last month. I was not sure what I was going to do with the hat right away...until I received the Piccolo Decorative pumpkins in the mail from GlobeCraftMemories. I knew the pumpkins were going on the hat...I couldn't wait to create the hat. This hat can be used as a Halloween home decor item, I am going to use it as a table centerpiece sitting on top of a pumpkin.

Directions for making the hat
Start with a wooden or paper Mache witch hat which can be purchased at a craft store.
Paint the inside of the hat with acrylic paint and set the hat aside until the paint has completely dried.

Tear or cut out pieces of patterned paper approximately 2"X2" in size. Ink the torn edges with coodinating ink. Apply Mod Podge to the back of the papers and adhere the paper pieces to the paper mache hat.

Once the entire outside of the hat is completely covered, apply a coat of Mod Podge over the top of the papers to seal them, and let dry.

Apply a coat of the Piccolo Embossing Powder Adhesive to the front section of the Oval Traditional Frame. Immediately after applying the adhesive, sprinkle Piccolo Fine Black Enamel Powder over the embossing adhesive on the oval. Using a heat gun, emboss the oval.
Coat the oval using Glastique as shown in photo and sprinkle. Apply a coat of orange glitter over the Glastique. Allow to dry and shake off all excess glitter. Apply another coat of Glastique over the glittered frame. Ensure the surface is completely covered with the Glastique and allow ample time for drying. When dry, the next step is assembly. Follow the package instructions for easy assembly. I like to secure the frame with binder clips while the glue sets up.
Adhere the frame to the hat with a strong adhesive.

Gently remove two Piccolo Decorative Happy Pumpkins Accent Charms using tweezers, needle or toothpick.  After you have removed the pumpkins, coat the pumpkins with Enamel Powder. Tap off excess enamel powder. Use tweezers to keep the pieces in place and melt the powder with a heat gun. When cool, distress the pumpkin's surface with orange distressing ink.  Repeat this same process, using one of the Piccolo Fashion Cat Earrings Jewerly Charms.  I used Piccolo Fine Black Enamel Powder on the cat. When cool, attach the cat to the pointed tip of the hat.

Decorate the brim and base of the hat to your liking. I added halloween punch outs, halloween tags, ribbon, lace and coordinating silk blooms around the brim.
